• A free camp by the side of Rio Gallegos….I woke up feeling a little better…stage 4 of my cold now. We were in no rush to get away.

  • Our third night at La Huela Camp on Lago Roca was yet again a nice peaceful one…that is until the Blonde decided at 5.30 am it was time to exit…the promise of another spectacular sunrise. I stayed put!

  • The rain started to fall just after we went to bed. There had been a noticeable change as it became much more humid and the wind had dropped…the typical lull before the storm.

  • It was midnight when we realised why this was such a wide river valley bottom. I woke up to what I initially thought was another vehicle coming to park nearby us…engine I thought was rather loud. However, I soon realised this was no vehicle but the sound of raging water.

  • We were up very early,….. well before sunrise. We wanted to get those special photographs, the “money shots”, of the pumice stone field as the sun cast its first light across this stunning landscape.

  • A country of such enormous contrasts, from the Atlantic seaboard to the iconic Andes mountains.
